Fabric FAIL!

The hardest part BY FAR in the DYA journey is finding amazing, beautiful fabric that will do what I want structurally whilst looking fantastic and flattering the figure all at once. Not much to ask really! While some designs require a simple elegant fabric that doesn’t detract from the design, others need an awesome textile that becomes the focal point of the look. Regular readers of my blog will recall my obsession with gold (I won’t sing the song again). For the past 2 months I’ve been on a MASSIVE search for gold fabric in Sydney, Melbourne, China, Thailand and the US (most via the www cause I’m broke and a world fabric tour right now would be financially catastrophic). The closest I’ve come to a decent gold is illustrated below. Unfortunately up close it tends to look more rock eisteddfod faaaaabulous rather than expensive chic… FAIL! Where now? Back to the drawing board. Or maybe Italy.

Hey Megan! Saw your feature in SHOP and had to look you up in blog land! Thank you so much for who you are and what you do! Designing your own clothing line sounds like enormously hard work, but I really hope you persevere because so many people will benefit from it!
much love. xx

Hi Megan,

What about India or Paris???

There are some trade fairs coming up-I know you are broke but thought you might like to look through this link http://tradefairs.fibre2fashion.com/ (if you haven't already) and might get some info about suppliers around.

All the best and I should go check out the Shop Magazine!!!:D
