MONDAY: STYD article comes out. Me: "Thank god they retouched that bruise on my leg." Buy 5 copies to distribute to family and friends. Receive a few accolades from said family and friends plus admonishments for not updating my blog. Update my blog. Get back to organising samples and patterns.
TUESDAY: Wake up to screaming voicemail from best friend/unofficial (self-appointed) publicist to have a look at GWAS. Freak out. Me: "Really? You like me? You really, really like me?"
WEDNESDAY: Start to get AMAZING responses on my blog from people who aren't obliged to love me by virtue of birth who've read either STYD or GWAS and are really interested in my story.
THURSDAY: Start getting emails from friends at Harpers, Grazia, STYD and other media outlets asking to see my samples when they're ready. Me: "OMG OMG OMG! What if they hate it? What if it's too commercial? Too derivative? Too god-knows-what? These are Australia's foremost fashion journalists! Agggggghhhhhhhh!" Ring self-appointed publicist for help who tells me she can't help, leaving for LA in few hours. She'll bring me back something nice. SO FIRED!
FRIDAY: Get email from Grazia Art Director telling me not to forget I still have a day job starting soon. Stay up all day and night refining existing sketches and adding new ones to bump up the collection to 20 pieces then think maybe should ring production manager to make sure that's ok. She assures me we can get it all done and congratulates me on article. Husband comes home and asks what I've planned for his bday(nothing) and cat vomits on important fabric sample. Humbled and reminded that I've got a long way to go before I become the next Camilla Freeman-Topper.
